The Sentis ABR Model (Attitudes, Behaviours, Results) offers a simple yet powerful lens through which we can understand how our internal world influences the outcomes we experience.
It illustrates a clear link between what we think and feel, what we do, and what we ultimately achieve–making it a valuable framework for you to achieve change as an individual or organisation.
The core components of the ABR Model
Attitudes
Attitudes are the internal beliefs, thoughts and feelings that shape how we see the world. They’re often influenced by our personal experiences, environment and culture.
In the context of safety, for example, someone with a proactive attitude towards risk is more likely to consider the consequences of their actions before making decisions.
Behaviours
Behaviours are the outward expressions of our attitudes. They’re the observable actions that others can see.
When an individual holds a strong belief in the importance of safety (attitude), they’re more likely to engage in safe practices and follow procedures consistently (behaviour).
It’s this alignment between belief and action that becomes critical in both personal and organisational performance.
Results
Results are the outcomes we experience as a consequence of our behaviours.
Whether it’s a psychologically safe team culture, improved operational performance, or stronger employee wellbeing, these results are the downstream effects of the actions people take–actions that are, in turn, fuelled by underlying attitudes.
How this model can be used in the workplace
At Sentis, we believe that meaningful change begins with understanding what drives people–what they think, feel and believe. That’s why the ABR Model is such a valuable tool in the workplace, no matter the industry.
In the context of safety, the model helps leaders and teams move beyond compliance to create environments where safety is valued, not just followed.
When people genuinely believe in the importance of looking out for themselves and others, safe behaviours become a natural expression of that mindset. It’s this shift–from external enforcement to internal ownership–that drives lasting impact.
For leaders, the ABR Model offers a practical way to reflect on how their mindset shapes their actions and, ultimately, their influence. W
Whether it’s how they respond to setbacks, recognise achievements or engage their teams, these everyday behaviours stem from deeper attitudes. When leaders are intentional about the example they set, they create ripple effects across the organisation.
And when it comes to culture, the ABR Model reminds us that the outcomes we experience–whether in safety, wellbeing or performance–are shaped by what people believe is important and how they show up each day.
Shifting culture starts by engaging with these beliefs and aligning them with the organisation’s vision and values.
