Leading in Challenging Times: How to Maintain a Strong Safety Focus

Apr 1, 2020

Our brains crave direction. But in a landscape of increasing uncertainty, how do we—as safety leaders—maintain our team’s focus on what’s most important right now?

In today’s workplace, leaders are tasked with realising efficiencies whilst still meeting production goals. Add to this an environment of rapid change and challenging circumstances, and it’s easy for our usual focus on safety to shift. Often, this can result in a perceived reduction in safety investment or, on the flipside, present an opportunity to drive an increased focus on safe production. It’s in these times that the words and actions of our leaders matter most.

In this webinar we explored:

  • The role of leaders in times of change and adversity
  • Our brain’s natural response to crisis and change
  • Simple strategies to take control of our thinking to effectively respond to challenges
  • How to apply this learning to the way we lead our teams to achieve more helpful outcomes in times of change.
